I saw the first two episodes last night just because I was curious about this new series. It was pretty decent all things considered. There were times where I felt like they were trying a bit too hard to be funny, especially with some of the over the top anime expressions, but there were some funny moments that made me laugh. I actually like the design for the Bakugan themselves, particularly with Drago, since they looked pretty detailed and cool. They kind of just jump right into things, but they would want to have some way to hook kids into the show. It was kind of strange that they just go right into battling together with their Bakugan.

They have to promote the game, but they didn't really even ask them questions like why are they here and why can only kids see them. I'm sure that they'll deal with those questions later, but it seemed a bit too glossed over for my tastes.

Cartoon Network USA will also air a new episode of Bakugan Battle Planet on 29th December at 7am, new episodes will continue to air on Saturdays at 7am.

They were trying pretty hard to make the battles big and flashy, but I also kind of liked that. That was similar to the original series and it helped to make the humans a bit more proactive in battle right off the bat instead of just shouting out 'Ability Activate' all the time. I don't know how I feel about the main cast. I think that they have decent to good voices and I like their designs, but their interactions and personalities just give the impression that they're trying too hard to make them cool and hip for kids.

Although, I don't know if any kids would find the online name 'The Awesome Ones' particularly good. That was just lame. It also felt a tad early to have a mysterious evil group appear, but I think that was due to how I didn't get the impression much time had passed between the first and second episode. Having the dog also own a Bakugan was just weird, but I rolled with it. I also hope that the narration from Dan isn't permanent. It made sense with this premiere's setup, but it felt a bit annoying at times too.

For someone who wasn't really into the original Bakugan, this reboot premiere was okay. I think that the eleven minute format worked for them, although it helped that this was basically a two part episode, it does set up a decent premise and it is at least visually appealing. I don't know if I'll keep up with the series. It didn't blow me away and I was never that into Bakugan in the first place. I think I only watched the first and maybe second seasons frequently enough, but I might binge watch the series through Cartoon Network's On Demand section.

I tend to do that with their original series too since it's easy to watch two or three eleven minute episodes in one go. Considering that this is reboot is in the eleven minute episode format and emphasizes the comedy more than the original series, this was pretty much what I was expecting, if not a bit better considering I thought that it was decent.

I remember being extremely confused with the premiere episode of Bakugan, but I could have been just having a headache when I first watched it. I agree that fans of the original Bakugan or have more nostalgic fondness for the series than I do will probably enjoy this reboot.
