.It is not about the slow connection, I told you. No. Nor did you tell me anything else as stated when posting in Cnet. ((For speedier replies to your questions, please be sure to be detailed as possible-include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. )) It is much harder to keep guessing at what you MAY have or not that might contribute to the problem you're having. That said, if you could please post your operating system, installed programs that may may not have a direct affect on your connection, hardware, make of computer, internet connection speed type, did you scan for infections.

All this helps greatly, otherwise as stated, it's just guessing. Yes, it used to work before. Then one day it started freezing. Would you please tell me how to go back to factory settings using the Compaq supplied system restore media or procedure? Also you are asking me for the CPU usage of all processes in Task Manager, but the number of the processes keep changing. Also I do not get when you ask for the results of dxdiag.
When I click on Run and type dxdiag. I have many tabs with lots of information.
Do you want all these informations or what? The last one 'the effect of disabling my antivirus.' I've never done that before.
I told you everything about the system. I'm not really sure what you are asking for. Maybe try to be specific.
Nice to hear that it worked. So something changed. If you can't find out what, so you can't undo it (not even with System Restore), you'll have to go back to square #1. I assume you tried System Restore already? And, sorry, I don't know what disks came with your PC and what Compaq told you about using a recovery partition. It's your PC, so you should know. For the CPU usage, I mean the top 5 or top 10.
You can sort on that column, so it's rather easy to do then. Another program (could be malware) taxing your CPU, is one of the possible causes. But that's unlikely if the program that plays your video is only using 10% of the CPU, and other programs use only 1 or 2%. For dxdiag, I'd concentrate on the video part, and see how it goes and what it tells you. It might find a problem. Hello, grck500!
I don?t know much about computers but I had had a similar problem twice and solved it, so what I?m going to say is to help others more experienced to help you (I hope so): 1) The PC that I used to have was an XP HP Pavilion. Online videos started to freeze for a few seconds very often right after my desktop background (Google pictures slide show) experienced a crash (I didn?t know why) and if I reinstalled it (Google?s or any animated one that came with the computer) the problem appeared again. I could use only a static picture as background to prevent the problem. 2) Now my PC is an HP Pavilion upgraded from Vista Home Premium 64bit -6GB-( to Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, first, and to Professional 64bit, after) The problem that I had: online videos and my mouse?s pointer used to freeze for a couple of seconds intermittently three to four times per minute. It happened with Vista nor 7 After dealing with this problem for a long time, I found by accident that the cause was the software of my emergency battery (PowerPanel Personal Edition). My Prevx insisted in blocking it.
I thought it was a false positive, so I applied a detection override to it, but finally my Prevx was right: the problem disappeared if I unplugged the battery (CyberPower). I solved it by updating the software. I hope this helps. Hi, grck5000! Please, don?t get confused. PowerPanel Personal Edition doesn?t come with computers.
CyberPower is a surge protection device and emergency battery for computers (in case of blackout) that you can buy at Office Depot or Best Buy, and PowerPanel Personal Edition is the software that allows the battery to communicate with the computer. (For more information, visit www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems.html ) And Prevx is an anti rootkit (a kind of anti spyware) that detected the said software as malware. If your computer is plugged to a CyberPower (or another brand) battery, your problem could be the same that I had, but if it isn?t, the information that I gave you could be useful in the sense of (possibly) leading?someone experienced- to the cause of the problem, probably related to UPS or the internal battery of your laptop (it may be too old).
Always try the easier things first (and if they?re not the cause of the problem, at least you?ll reduce the number of possibilities): Let?s suppose that you?re not using any external battery and the internal battery of your laptop is good, another possible cause of the problem could be your flash player and/or java. If one of them is out of date or your flash player is not plugged to your java, they wouldn?t work right. Make sure that the said software is update and plugged before doing anything more complicated than that. Just visit Adobe and Java web sites to check what?s the latest version of each, go to your Programs and Features to see if you got those versions or get them, and check IE add-ons settings to make sure that they?re enabled. Another possible cause of the problem?searching from easier to complicated- could be settings that you or a third party software changed by accident. Just to eliminate this as a possible cause, I suggest you to download the trial version of TuneUp Utilities at Cnet Downloads, and use its Rescue Center to set Animation and Effects back to their Default settings. Cleaning your registry and running a good antispyware could help too.
I recommend CCleaner (safe) and SUPERAntispyware (very good to fix IE) and you can get both for free here, at Cnet Downloads. As I said, I don?t know much about computers, but if you don?t solve the problem by doing what I?m suggesting, at least it could help others more experienced in this forum to help you. Good luck, grck5000. Hello, grck5000!
If you haven't fixed your puter yet, try Microsoft Fix it. Go to I suggest you to check your IE add-ons first and, if something's wrong with one or more of them you'll find it under 'Issues Found' and decide if you want to disable it. Download the tool and and use it. If the problem doesn't have anything to do with your add-ons, there are different options to search for problems and solutions like Top Troubleshooters, Windows, Windows Media Player and others (then you got to select a specific category depending on where you think the problem could be) Good Luck!
